Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frances Rowland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Trap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trap has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Mike Trap is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frances Rowland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Trap! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rowland moves into the clinch. Trap looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! With the fighters clinched against the cage, Trap creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Trap lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Rowland backwards. Rowland gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Trap is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rowland scores with a couple of nice shots. Rowland is looking for a kimura but Trap is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rowland to get the leverage. Rowland is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rowland winds up and cracks Trap with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Rowland throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rowland wants to stand up but Trap has a hold of him and won't allow it. Rowland working Trap over with strikes. Rowland landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Rowland throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Rowland takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Rowland lands strikes from half guard. Rowland wants to stand up but Trap is controlling the position.

Trap is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rowland scores with a couple of nice shots. Trap avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rowland. Trap is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rowland is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Rowland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Trap is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rowland scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trap on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Rowland working the head and body with strikes. Rowland sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Trap defending well though. Rowland throwing shots but Trap is blocking nicely. Rowland looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Trap with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. That's four minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Rowland or perhaps it was just good defense by Trap, which made it look bad. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rowland is defended easily by Trap. Trap is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rowland looks for a takedown but Trap sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frances Rowland dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rowland changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Trap looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Frances Rowland overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Trap taking a bit of punishment here - Rowland scoring with strikes. Trap takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Rowland cracks Trap with a big right hand but Trap just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Rowland cracks Trap with an elbow. That is naaassty. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rowland working the ground and pound from side control.
Trap is rocked! Rowland decides to stand back up. Rowland steps back and let's Trap get back to his feet. Trap is still on wobbly legs! Can Rowland finish him? Rowland instigates a clinch. Trap is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rowland prevents Trap from breaking the clinch. Trap has Rowland pressed against the cage, preventing Rowland from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Rowland pulls guard effortlessly. Trap is sitting in close to Rowland's body. Rowland has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Trap is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Trap is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rowland.
