Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Otha Carson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andreas Kartes! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kartes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Andreas Kartes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kartes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carson's waist but Carson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kartes off to one side. Carson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Kartes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kartes somewhat. Otha Carson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andreas Kartes. Left hook, right uppercut from Carson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carson stuffs the takedown. Kartes fails with the takedown and Carson counters with a series of strikes. Kartes will be more careful next time no doubt. Kartes darts in looking for a takedown but Carson gets double underhooks and turns Kartes into the cage.

Kartes looks for a takedown but Carson sprawls well. Kartes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carson moves in looking to clinch but Kartes pushes him off. Kartes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carson as he avoids it easily. Kartes lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kartes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kartes looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carson tries to close the distance and clinch but Kartes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Carson throws a right and a left that both miss. Kartes is looking to clinch but Carson is avoiding it.
Carson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kartes changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Kartes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Carson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kartes. Carson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Carson is trying to maintain a safe position but Kartes gets an underhook and turns Carson into the cage. Carson holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Kartes letting Carson take a breather here. Kartes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carson walks away with a smile on his face. Kartes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

As Kartes tries to get set, Carson tries to push him back and clinch up but Kartes manages to avoid the attempt. Kartes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. No joy there for Kartes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kartes cracks the inside of Carson's front leg. Kartes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carson pinned against the cage. Carson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kartes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kartes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Carson seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Kartes shoots in for a takedown but Carson shows good takedown defense. Kartes tries to land a leg kick but Carson saw it coming and moves away.

Carson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kartes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Carson stalling in the clinch but Kartes improves position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kartes wants to clinch and Carson counters with a single leg into guard. Kartes didn't expect that. Carson is looking to stand up but Kartes won't let him. Kartes has control of Carson's left arm, preventing Carson from doing any damage. Kartes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Carson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Carson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kartes tries to clinch but Carson is having none of it. Kartes throws a head kick that misses and Carson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carson. A battle for position here, against the cage. Kartes breaks from the clinch.

Carson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kartes can do to turn this around? Carson wants to stand up but Kartes is controlling him. Andreas Kartes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Otha Carson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Carson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
