PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Bradman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robinson Crusoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Don Bradman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Bradman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robinson Crusoe!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bradman throws out a leg kick but Crusoe moves out of range and Bradman only half commits.
Bradman misses with a leg kick

and Crusoe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Crusoe.
Bradman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Crusoe controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bradman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crusoe is one step ahead there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bradman.
Crusoe tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Bradman's corner calls for a 1-2. Bradman obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Bradman tries to score with a low kick but Crusoe moves his leg out of the way.
Crusoe feints the counter takedown.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Bradman. Crusoe shrugs it off though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice leg kick lands there from Bradman.
Bradman throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Bradman throws a lazy right hand but Crusoe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And Crusoe tries to counter it with a takedown but Bradman pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Bradman throws a low kick but it's checked well by Crusoe.
Crusoe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

and Crusoe counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bradman!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crusoe is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bradman's shoulder. That is not cool.

Bradman is trying to improve his position.
Crusoe just content to control the position.
It looks like Crusoe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Bradman is not content to let Crusoe control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Crusoe in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Crusoe taking a break here but Bradman is having none of it and regains half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Crusoe slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robinson Crusoe dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Crusoe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Crusoe is controlling the pace.
Bradman trying to control from the bottom.
Crusoe not doing much here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bradman trying to control but Crusoe postures up.
Crusoe stalling.
Bradman wants to improve his position but Crusoe is controlling well.
Crusoe is taking a breather. Bradman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd cheers as Bradman lands an impressive looking overhand right. Crusoe doesn't seem phased though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bradman scoring well with a low kick there.
Crusoe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bradman throws a wild body kick that Crusoe sees coming a mile off.
Bradman throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bradman throws a low kick but Crusoe moves out of range easily.
Crusoe drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bradman defends it well.

Bradman throws a leg kick which misses Crusoe's front leg but catches the back leg as Crusoe tries to avoid it.

Bradman throws a body punch but Crusoe moves out of range.

and Crusoe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Crusoe not doing much here.
Bradman is looking to improve his position.

Crusoe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bradman wants to control but Crusoe is keeping busy.
Crusoe content to control rather than advance.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Robinson Crusoe will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Bradman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've been informed that Crusoe has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Bradman tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Crusoe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Crusoe is continuing to stall.
Bradman pulls Crusoe in close to prevent any damage.

Crusoe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bradman.
Bradman tries to land a leg kick but Crusoe saw it coming and moves away.

Crusoe with the counter takedown but Bradman avoids it easily.
Don Bradman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bradman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Bradman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Crusoe controls the pace.
Let's hope that Crusoe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Robinson Crusoe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Robinson Crusoe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Crusoe winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
