Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ron Shaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ron Shaffer has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Shaffer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Silva! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaffer gets in close and instigates a clinch. Silva blocks a body shot from Shaffer. Shaffer has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Shaffer using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Silva has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Shaffer takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Silva successfully pulls guard.
Silva looking to control.
Shaffer won't allow Silva to get back to his feet. Shaffer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaffer postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva is trying to control the position but Shaffer postures up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shaffer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Silva wants to stand but Shaffer is controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Silva looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Shaffer controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself. Shaffer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shaffer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Shaffer's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaffer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Silva pushing down on Shaffer's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Silva is trying to control. Shaffer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Shaffer trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Shaffer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Silva scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva with the ground and pound but Shaffer uses the opportunity to regain guard. Silva lands a couple of digs. Shaffer is pulling down on Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Silva, at least for the moment. Shaffer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Silva wants to stand but Shaffer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Silva lands with a shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Silva moves into the clinch. Shaffer has had enough of the clinch but Silva keeps him there for the moment. Silva scores a nice knee to the body.
Silva lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Shaffer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Silva not doing much here.
Shaffer is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Silva sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Shaffer defending well though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lucas Silva dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Shaffer preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Shaffer wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva drops an elbow to the side of Shaffer's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shaffer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Silva trying to advance position but Shaffer counters by regaining guard. Shaffer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Shaffer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Silva is trying to maintain the position but Shaffer is very close to passing his half guard. Silva has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaffer prevents Silva from improving his position. Silva is looking to get back to full guard here but Shaffer has managed to pass to side control instead. Shaffer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Silva is looking for a sweep. Lucas Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Shaffer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Silva knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Shaffer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Silva tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Shaffer easily slips into full mount! Silva tries to control Shaffer's body but Shaffer pushes him off. Silva squirms to his side and now Shaffer has his back! Silva tries to escape but Shaffer has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Silva is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Shaffer tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control. Silva wants to take a breather but Shaffer is having none of it. Shaffer looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva trying to control from half guard but Shaffer is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaffer tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Silva tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shaffer works his way to full guard. Good work. Shaffer keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Shaffer controlling the position.

Silva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaffer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shaffer can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Shaffer is trying to control but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaffer is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are battling for position here. Shaffer manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Silva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Shaffer gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaffer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight! Lucas Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
