Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and KO Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). KO Thunder is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, KO Thunder!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valdez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thunder to the mat! Thunder manages to get full guard.
Valdez prevents Thunder from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Valdez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Valdez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Valdez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Thunder pulls Valdez in close to his closed guard and prevents Valdez from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Valdez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thunder sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valdez somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Thunder. No joy for Valdez on that attempt.

Thunder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Thunder trying to control the position but Valdez is working away.
Valdez is looking to reverse the position.

Valdez manages to get back to half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Valdez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Valdez is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Thunder frees his head nicely. Oh but Valdez has switched to an armbar! Thunder is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
