PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mason Chino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mason Chino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adam Walker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Walker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Chino tries to kick Walker off but Walker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Walker is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Walker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Well, if Walker is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Chino is trying to stand back up but Walker is controlling him
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Walker tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chino defends well and Walker ends up having to push Chino into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chino looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've been told by Chino's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Chino tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chino slaps away a takedown attempt from Walker, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Chino tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Walker was well out of range. Poor timing from Chino.

Walker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Walker is standing up over Chino. Chino looks to escape but Walker dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chino to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walker shoots in for a double leg but Chino sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
As Walker looks to move away, Chino throws a big counter combo bu Walker just gets out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Walker dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Chino gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Walker's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Chino knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.

Walker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chino manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walker has Chino in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker pulls Chino in close to prevent any damage.

Walker pushes Chino off and scrambles back to his feet.

Walker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Chino is looking to escape.

Chino is looking to improve his position.
Walker stops Chino from getting back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walker connects with a nice short shot to Chino's temple.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Chino tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Walker was well out of range. Poor timing from Chino.

Walker moves into the clinch successfully.
Walker goes for a takedown attempt but Chino pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mason Chino is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Chino is looking to clinch.
Chino tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Walker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Chino feints a jab promting Walker to slip. Chino then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Walker slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walker just misses with a punch to the body.

Walker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Walker scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Chino trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Walker manages to pass to mount!

Adam Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Chino is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Walker wants to finish this one by submission but Chino is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Walker.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Walker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walker showed some decent athleticism there.

Chino has one foot on Walker's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Walker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Chino tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Walker is in Chino's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chino is on top in guard.

Walker pulls Chino in to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Walker has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Walker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
