PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Espo Jaksinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azar Qasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Qasi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Whom The Bell Tolls kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Espo Jaksinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qasi shoots and misses
and Jaksinen counters with an outside leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jaksinen.
Jaksinen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Qasi.
Jaksinen looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Qasi fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Espo Jaksinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Azar Qasi.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Qasi.

Qasi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jaksinen is just riding it out for now. Qasi eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaksinen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Qasi is working away from the top position though.

Jaksinen's coaches at Altaca gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Espo Jaksinen will probably get the nod.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jaksinen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
