Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Mean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Ratajczyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mean's entrance music is Seven Nation Army. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dean Mean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Ratajczyk!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mean clobbers Ratajczyk with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


It looks like Peter Ratajczyk has been cut.
Mean tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ratajczyk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mean keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Ratajczyk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ratajczyk lands in his opponent's guard.
Ratajczyk throws a big elbow that misses.
Ratajczyk with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ratajczyk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mean wants to sweep here but Ratajczyk controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ratajczyk stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ratajczyk shoots for a takedown but Mean saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ratajczyk avoids the head kick by Mean.
Ratajczyk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mean swivels and escapes.
Dean Mean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Ratajczyk.
Ratajczyk shoots in for a takedown but Mean shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ratajczyk has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

and Mean counters with a straight right hand.
Ratajczyk tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mean sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ratajczyk somewhat.

Ratajczyk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mean's waist but Mean gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ratajczyk off to one side.
That kick from Mean tenderised Ratajczyk's leg. Ratajczyk is trying to keep his angry face on.
Mean throws a low kick, looking for Ratajczyk's leg but Ratajczyk calmly moves out of range.
Mean misses with a body kick.
Nice takedown defense from Mean. No joy for Ratajczyk on that attempt.
Mean lands a nice looking body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mean is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dean Mean is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ratajczyk looks for a takedown but Mean sprawls well.

Mean clinches with his opponent.
Ratajczyk is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mean gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mean tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ratajczyk avoids it.
Ratajczyk keeps control of Mean as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Mean breaks from the clinch.
Mean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mean throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ratajczyk has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mean avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mean is trying to force a seperation but Ratajczyk has the dominant position.

Mean is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ratajczyk is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mean to the mat. Mean regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Mean is trying to control the position but Ratajczyk postures up.
Ratajczyk advances to half guard.
Ratajczyk throwing shots but Mean is blocking nicely.
Ratajczyk lands with a punch from half guard.
Ratajczyk thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Ratajczyk looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ratajczyk is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mean defends it well.

Mean wants to get back to his feet.
Ratajczyk thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mean's head.

Ratajczyk is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mean sees it coming and defends easily.
Ratajczyk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ratajczyk throwing shots but Mean is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dean Mean will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Peter Ratajczyk's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Ratajczyk looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mean!

Ratajczyk tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mean manages to get back to half guard.

Ratajczyk in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mean tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ratajczyk!
