Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Margarito Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daved Hassan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daved Hassan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Margarito Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hassan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rivera defends well and Hassan ends up having to push Rivera into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hassan shoots for a double leg takedown but Rivera sprawls well. He's pushed Hassan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hassan darts in and clinches Rivera up against the cage.
Rivera tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hassan has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rivera clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Hassan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rivera escapes and throws Hassan's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Rivera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rivera wants to stand up but Hassan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hassan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rivera scores with a couple of nice shots.

Rivera looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hassan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Margarito Rivera will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rivera thows a body kick. Hassan tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Hassan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rivera quickly recovers to half guard.
Hassan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rivera is just riding it out for now. Hassan eventually gives up the hold.
Rivera is concentrating on defense, preventing Hassan from advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rivera makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rivera.
Rivera will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hassan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rivera is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rivera has escaped and now he's on top!
Hassan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rivera stacks Hassan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rivera!

Rivera bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hassan's head backwards.
Hassan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

and Hassan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hassan.
Hassan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rivera dives on top into guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rivera content to control rather than advance.

Hassan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rivera jumps guard and drags Hassan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rivera wants to sweep here but Hassan controlling him for the moment.

Hassan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rivera looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rivera looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rivera!
Hassan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rivera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rivera throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Hassan has eaten all the pies!
