Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Will! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Bob! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bob gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Will to score an easy takedown into full guard. Bob is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Will defends well. Will wants to stand but Bob has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Will trying to control but Bob is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Will trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Will controls from within his opponent's guard. Will tries to stand but Bob is controlling from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Will trying to control the position from guard on top but Bob is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Will is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bob has his takedown stuffed and Will counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Bob is pushing Will up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Bob has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Will after a bit of a struggle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Will jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Will looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Will keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully. Bob is standing up over Will. Will looks to escape but Bob dives into side control.
Will tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bob wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bob wants to control but Will is keeping him busy. Will looking for a sweep but Bob has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Will is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Bob postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Will looks a forlorn figure.
Will is trying to escape the mount.
Will tries to hold on but Bob postures up. Bob landing shots from mount. Bob takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Will is looking to get to half guard. Bob with good strikes from the mount here! Will is squirming around, avoiding Bob's attempts to control the action. Bob lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Will tries to hold on but Bob postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bob controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Bob dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Bob tries to clinch up but Will circles away and keeps his distance. Will is looking to counter the offense by Bob and move into the clinch. Bob throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Will slaps away a takedown attempt from Bob, before circling back to the center of the mat. Will moves in looking to clinch but Bob pushes him off. No luck with that takedown attempt from Will. Will shoots in looking for a takedown. Bob tries to sprawl out of it but Will keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bob manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice takedown defense from Bob. No joy for Will on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Will. That's going to take a lot out of him. Will shoots in looking for a takedown but Bob manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Will's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A head kick misses from Bob. Bill Will is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Will tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bob swivels and escapes. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Will moves in looking to clinch but Bob pushes him off. Bob wants to counter with a clinch but Will pushes him away. Bob moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Bob shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bob postures up.
Bob would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Frank Bob has got the better of the ground game so far. Will looking for subs off his back but Bob has passed one foot through into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Will wants to improve his position but Bob is controlling well.
Will is trying to control but can't.
Will taking some punishment here, with Bob in his half guard. Bob working the head and body with strikes. Bob is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Will is looking for a sweep. Bob is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Will taking some punishment here, with Bob in his half guard. Bob missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Bob takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Bob dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Bob fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Will to the ground. Bob is now in Will's guard. Bob stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Will swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bob stands up and waves to Will to follow him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Will or perhaps it was just good defense by Bob, which made it look bad. Bob throws a counter combo. Bob fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Will sprawls well initially but Bob persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Will is trying to maintain the position but Bob is very close to passing his half guard. Bob prevents Will from improving his position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bob trying to control the action but Will is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Bob moves forwards but Will connects with a nice, crisp jab. Will could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bob tries to clinch up but Will circles away and keeps his distance. Bob has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Will gets a double leg takedown into Bob's guard. Will trying to control but Bob is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bob looking to hit a scissor sweep but Will is one step ahead there. Bob had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Will defends it easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Will drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bob dives on top into guard. Will working a defensive guard but Bob passes into half guard.
Will is pressing down on Bob's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Bob tries to free his leg and advance position but Will is retaining full guard. Bob stands and steps away. Will gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bob pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Will tries to bum rush Bob with a series of wild strikes but Bob uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Will shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bob as he jumps to the side. Bob leaves Will with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Will gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Bob. Bob shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Will sprawls well. Will wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bob gets slowly back to his feet. It looked like Will wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Will gets in close and instigates a clinch. Will can't break the clinch.
Bob wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Will scores a nice knee to the body.
Will is looking to control Bob's arms but Bob gets an underhook and turns him. Now Will has his back to the cage. Will is looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Will. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bob has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Will regains guard immediately. Bob controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Will controls Bob momentarily but Bob frees himself. Will tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bob forces his way into half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Frank Bob. I've got Bob winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
