Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dave Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Nerk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wes Nerk is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wes Nerk! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nerk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Nerk's guard. Smith stopping the sweep attempt from Nerk. Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nerk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Nerk's legs - danger averted. Smith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Smith stops Nerk from standing up. Nerk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Smith's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith wants to stand but Nerk is controlling his posture from full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nerk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith misses with a body kick. Smith wants to clinch. Nerk tries to counter with a clinch but Smith shakes him off and moves away. Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Nerk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nerk buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Nerk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nerk gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smith to score an easy takedown into full guard. Smith trying to control but Nerk is working from the bottom. Smith wanted to stand there but Nerk had control of the position. Nerk keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully. Nerk striking from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Nerk lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nerk wants to stand and escape but instead Smith has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Smith is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to get up but he can't break Nerk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nerk holds on and takes a little breather. Nerk looking to control.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Nerk is retaining full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nerk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Smith throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Smith dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch. Smith drives through with a takedown into Nerk's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Smith throws a big right hand that misses. Smith loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Smith trying to control but Nerk is working from the bottom. Nerk looking for a sweep. Not yet Nerk, not yet. Nerk keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nerk seems keen to control Smith's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nerk jabs Smith to the body, keeping him at a distance. Dave Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith looks for a takedown but Nerk sprawls well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nerk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Nerk rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage. Nerk breaks the clinch.
Nerk misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nerk fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nerk can do to turn this around? Nerk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nerk scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith tries to buck Nerk off but Nerk is having none of it. Smith is trying to control Nerk's posture but Nerk avoids it. Nerk wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy. Smith tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nerk stands up. Nerk has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nerk taking a breather. Nerk is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smith gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Dave Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Nerk. Nerk has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment. Nerk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smith smiles and moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nerk pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch. Smith is struggling to control the position. Nerk unloads a knee to the mid-section. Smith tries to pull guard but Nerk holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.
Nerk has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smith after a bit of a struggle. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nerk breaks the clinch.
Nerk scores with a leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wes Nerk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Nerk's guard. Smith trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nerk's guard. Smith looking to pass the guard. Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nerk dives on top into guard. Nerk is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith is trying to keep Nerk in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Nerk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Nerk is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Smith keeping full guard, as Nerk tries to pass. Nerk is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Nerk engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Nerk preventing the sweep.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Nerk closes the distance and clinches. Nerk displaying some good clinch control by pressing Smith up against the cage. Nerk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Nerk or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad. Nerk shoots in but no luck this time. Smith fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Nerk dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Nerk's head and hops out. Dave Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Nerk. Nerk is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nerk sneaks back into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is trying to control the action in half guard but Nerk is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Nerk looking for submissions off his back. Nerk flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nerk is refusing to be controlled, as Smith sits in half guard. Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Dave Smith showed his dominance in that final round. I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
