PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ted Snider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Thatcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joey Thatcher was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ted Snider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joey Thatcher!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snider wants to clinch.
Snider stuffs the takedown.
Thatcher goes for a double leg but Snider avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Snider continues to drive forward.
Snider keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
As Thatcher looks to move away, Snider throws a big counter combo bu Thatcher just gets out of the way.
Ted Snider has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Thatcher.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thatcher shoots in looking for a takedown but Snider manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thatcher's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Thatcher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Snider pinned against the cage. Snider gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Joey Thatcher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Snider stuffs the takedown attempt from Thatcher. Thatcher gets slowly back to his feet.
Snider seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Thatcher fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Snider was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

and Snider counters with a series of strikes. Thatcher will be more careful next time no doubt.

Thatcher shoots for a double leg takedown but Snider sprawls well. He's pushed Thatcher's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Snider is looking to counter with head kicks.
Thatcher dives in and grabs Snider's left leg, looking for a takedown. Snider pushes down on Thatcher's head and hops out.
Ted Snider is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Thatcher shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Snider sprawls well. Snider wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thatcher gets slowly back to his feet.
Thatcher shoots in but Snider avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As Thatcher looks to move away, Snider throws a big counter combo bu Thatcher just gets out of the way.
Snider really is a fat lump.

Thatcher shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Snider napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Snider tries to bench press Thatcher off him but Thatcher keeps the position.
Snider is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Thatcher has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Thatcher tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thatcher has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snider tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Snider holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snider tries to bench press Thatcher off him but Thatcher keeps the position.
Thatcher wants to stand but Snider is controlling his arm.

Snider manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Thatcher is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Snider tries to get to full guard but Thatcher has control of the leg.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Thatcher dives in for a single leg takedown but Snider sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Thatcher gets control of Snider's arms and successfully pulls guard. Thatcher will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snider drops back looking for a leg! Thatcher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thatcher manages to kick Snider off! Snider jumps back into Thatcher's guard.

Snider swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Thatcher doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Snider counters with a series of strikes. Thatcher will be more careful next time no doubt.

Snider gets tackled into the cage by Thatcher. Thatcher maintains the clinch.

Snider appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Thatcher misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Thatcher cracks a nice hook into Snider's ribs.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Snider defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Thatcher.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Snider counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Thatcher clinches up with Snider and pushes him back against the cage.
Thatcher stalling in the clinch but Snider improves position.
Snider tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Thatcher avoids it.

Snider throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Thatcher misses with a takedown attempt - Snider sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thatcher closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Thatcher throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Thatcher wants to finish this one by submission but Snider is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Thatcher.

Snider bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Thatcher controls Snider momentarily but Snider frees himself.

Joey Thatcher comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Snider has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
