PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Louden Swain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swain comes into the arena with Gambler blaring out of the sound system. Walker has chosen Top Cats - Red Light Spells Danger as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Louden Swain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Walker!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swain looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Walker misses with a hook. Swain ducked under it nicely.
Walker connects with the punch.
Swain slips under a jab from Walker.
Swain doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Swain shoots in for a double leg but Walker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A telegraphed right hand from Swain misses the target.
Walker throws a hook but Swain blocks it.
Walker pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Walker throws the left hand but Swain avoids the punch easily.
Swain throwing a counter right hand but Walker manages to avoid it.
Swain steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Walker.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker misses the shot to the body.
Walker's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Swain connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Walker scrambles back to his feet.
Walker throws a lazy right hand but Swain sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Swain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Louden Swain has been cut.

Swain loads up on a big right hand but Walker slips the punch.
Walker bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Swain's head.
Walker tests Swain's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fighters circling - Swain throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Walker throws out a counter right but Swain avoids it with no problem.
Swain moves away from the strike by Walker.

Swain closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Swain lands in his opponent's guard.

Walker is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Swain is aware though and is defending well.
Swain wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving.

Swain got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Swain has managed to get both his arms back between Walker's legs - danger averted.

Walker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Swain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Walker controls Swain momentarily but Swain frees himself.
Swain makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Swain trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.
Walker wants to sweep here but Swain controlling him for the moment.
Swain trying to control the position from guard on top but Walker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Walker looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Walker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swain is one step ahead there.
Walker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Swain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Swain looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Walker has his foot on Swain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Swain works his way back into a safe position though.

Walker takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Walker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Walker is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Swain scores with a couple of nice shots.

Swain is working for an americana but Walker has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Swain was thinking about the submission.

Swain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Swain is really struggling to control Walker but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Walker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Swain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Swain lands a couple of digs.

Walker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Swain has managed to free his arm - good work.

Walker scores with a crisp jab that stopped Swain in his tracks.

Swain closes this distance looking for a takedown but Walker circles away.
Swain throws a head kick but Walker moves out of range.

Swain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Walker connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Swain's hands.
Walker throws a jab but it's blocked by Swain.
Walker throws a hook but Swain blocks it.
Walker throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Swain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Jay Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Swain smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Walker waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Swain.

Walker might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Walker tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Swain was well out of range. Poor timing from Walker.
Swain cracks Walker with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Walker counters with a series of strikes. Swain will be more careful next time no doubt.

Swain is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Walker's half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Swain has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Walker defend it? Swain steps over the head and cranks it - Walker is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Swain!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Louden Swain!

Jay Walker was interviewed post fight and said 'Bad referee...'.
