Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Albert Hoffman !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, James McGuiness!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoffman gets the takedown into side control.

McGuiness felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Hoffman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McGuiness escapes and throws Hoffman 's legs to the side, diving into side control!

McGuiness is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Hoffman off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Hoffman goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. McGuiness escapes and is now in half guard on top.

McGuiness tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hoffman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Albert Hoffman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hoffman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McGuiness knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hoffman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McGuiness sprawls well initially but Hoffman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McGuiness really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hoffman . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hoffman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McGuiness defends it well.
