Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Burt Watson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willy Frank! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frank throws a head kick that misses. Watson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Watson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Frank's legs. Frank is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Watson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Watson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frank has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Watson is working away from the top position though. Frank should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frank wants to get back to his feet.
Well, if Watson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Watson wants to pass to mount but Frank is defending the position. Frank trying to hold on to Watson's head to control him but Watson postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Watson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Watson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Watson working away. Watson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Frank is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Watson stalls from top position. Watson tries to stand but Frank is controlling his head. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Frank regains half guard. Frank looks winded! Watson prevents Frank from improving his position. Frank avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Watson. Watson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Frank has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Watson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Frank on his heels. He'll look to pass Frank's guard now, I'm sure. Watson is stalling in the full guard. Watson preventing the sweep. Frank is trying to control the position but Watson postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Watson wants to stand but Frank is controlling his posture from full guard. Watson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Burt Watson dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Burt Watson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Frank wants to get back to his feet but Watson drags him back down. Watson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Frank on the ground. Watson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Frank knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Watson landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watson decides to take the fight back to the feet. Watson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Frank is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Watson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frank swivels though and keeps the full guard. Watson stays in close to Frank's body and controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Watson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Frank is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Watson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Frank is trying to keep Watson in close.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Watson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Watson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Watson moves into range and clinches up with Frank. Watson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Watson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Frank trying to control but Watson is working from the bottom. Watson controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Watson lands a decent shot there. Frank stopping the sweep attempt from Watson. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Frank accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Watson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Frank defends it easily. Watson managing to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A momentary lapse in concentration from Frank enables Watson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Frank manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Watson controlling from the top position. Frank tries to land a sweep but no joy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Watson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Watson stopping the sweep attempt from Frank. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Burt Watson dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Watson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Watson utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Watson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Frank shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Watson counters with a huge head kick that drops Frank! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Burt Watson! During a confident post fight interview, Burt Watson thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
