Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hector Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Moon!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Moon is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Moon circles away and we're back to standing.
Diaz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Diaz fails to land the takedown.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Moon shows good takedown defense.

Diaz tries for a takedown but Moon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Moon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moon as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moon tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Moon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Moon tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Moon shows good takedown defense.
Moon fails to land the takedown.
Moon wants to clinch up but Diaz keeps it at a distance.
Moon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Moon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is not content to let Moon control the position.
You can see the frustration on Diaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Diaz looking for a sweep but Moon has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Moon controlling the pace for now.
Moon lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Diaz tries to reverse the position but Moon maintains control.

Diaz wants to hold on but Moon pushes him away.
Diaz is breathing heavily.

Moon is working for a guillotine from mount but Diaz frees his head quite easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Moon jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Diaz manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Diaz is looking for a sweep.
Diaz is trying to work for a sweep but Moon has mounted him!
Diaz is squirming around, avoiding Moon's attempts to control the action.
Moon controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Moon dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Diaz takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Diaz tries for a takedown but Moon circles away easily

and Moon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Moon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Moon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Moon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Diaz seems a little lost for a moment, as Moon dominates the positioning.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diaz is looking to regain half guard here but Moon keeps moving and retains side control.

Moon gets to mount! Diaz was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Diaz can't escape the position.
Diaz regains half guard.

Moon is looking for a kimura here.
Moon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Diaz wants to improve his position but Moon is controlling well.
Moon lands with a punch from half guard.
Moon trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom.

Moon is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Moon to get the leverage.
Moon is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer.

Despite being in the dominant position, Joey Moon just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Moon scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Moon works to advance to full mount. Diaz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Moon working for a submission but Diaz is keeping him at bay.
Moon postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Diaz looks a forlorn figure.

Moon content just to control the position here.
Diaz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Moon tries to control but Diaz wriggling away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Moon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Moon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Diaz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Diaz gets back to full guard.
Diaz tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Moon sitting in guard here, content to control.
Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Moon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Moon misses with a head shot. Diaz uses the momentum to regain guard.
Diaz lands some strikes from the bottom.
Moon wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

Moon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Diaz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Diaz has escaped and now he's on top!
Moon is trying to control the position but Diaz postures up.
Diaz postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Moon keeps moving.
Moon looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Diaz is pushing down on Moon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moon is fighting to maintain full guard but Diaz has managed to sneak the leg through.
Diaz throws a strike but Moon avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but Moon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Moon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hector Diaz showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Moon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
