Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Hogan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Owens! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Owens tries to clinch but fails miserably and Hogan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Owens's guard. Hogan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hogan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hogan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Hogan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Hogan landing strikes. Owens felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Owens takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Hogan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Owens some visible discomfort.
Hogan is trying to get an arm triangle but Owens is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Owens on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Hogan trying to control the position but Owens is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hogan is chipping away with strikes.
Hogan in side control, just content to control the action for now. Owens takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

He might have it! No, Owens has escaped the position, nice work there. Hogan trying to control the action but Owens is working from the bottom. Hogan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Owens is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hogan connects with a decent elbow. Owens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hogan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hogan wants to stand but Owens is controlling his arm. Hogan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Owens, who protects the arm well. Hogan is looking to take a break and control but Owens is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Owens wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Owens can do anything to dispel that myth. Owens is looking to regain half guard here but Hogan keeps moving and retains side control. Hogan in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hogan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Owens keeps working. Hogan lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Owens down.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hogan working the ground and pound from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Hogan dominated that round. That's time! Hogan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hogan darts in looking for a takedown but Owens gets double underhooks and turns Hogan into the cage. As Hogan backs off Owens throws a huge counter combo but Hogan manages to avoid it all. Owens seems to have recovered his senses. Hogan misses with a takedown attempt - Owens sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hogan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Owens on his heels. He'll look to pass Owens's guard now, I'm sure. Hogan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Owens keeping moving, preventing Hogan from controlling successfully. Hogan cracks Owens with a solid left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Owens has momentary wrist control but Hogan slips an elbow through the middle. Owens is breathing heavily. Hogan connects with a couple of short punches. Hogan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Owens is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hogan trying to control the position from guard on top but Owens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hogan is working Owens over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hogan with a nice head shot there. Hogan wants to control from the top but Owens keeps moving. Hogan stands up over Owens, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Hogan passes easily into side control. Nice work. Hogan wants to control but Owens is keeping him busy. James Hogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hogan scoring with punches and elbows. Hogan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Owens rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hogan's guard! Nice work there by Owens! Hogan looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hogan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Owens can do to turn this around? Owens got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hogan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Owens has managed to get both his arms back between Hogan's legs - danger averted. Hogan is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Owens has his hands clasped together but Hogan extends and breaks Owens's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hogan.
