Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Tapia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Destructico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Tapia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Destructico! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Destructico looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tapia is fending him off so far but Destructico persists. Nope, Tapia circles away and we're back to standing. Destructico looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Tapia loads up on a big right hand but Destructico slips the punch. No luck for Destructico with that takedown attempt. Johnny Tapia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Destructico. Tapia looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Tapia throws a right and a left that both miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Destructico shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Destructico shoots in and drives through. Tapia sprawls well. Destructico will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Destructico fails with a takedown attempt. Tapia throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Destructico. Destructico misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nice combo by Tapia! Oh, that's hurt him - Destructico falls to the canvas and Tapia follows him into side control.

It looks like Diego Destructico has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Destructico is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tapia wants to stand but Destructico is controlling his arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Destructico regains half guard. Destructico is pressing down on Tapia's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Destructico is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tapia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Destructico on the ground. Destructico looks gassed! Destructico working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tapia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tapia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Destructico is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Destructico working for a triangle but Tapia defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tapia preventing the sweep. Destructico escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tapia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Destructico is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Tapia wants to stand but Destructico has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Destructico escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tapia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Tapia tries to stand but Destructico is controlling from the bottom. Destructico had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tapia is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Destructico Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tapia's back instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Tapia dominated that round. The cut man is working on Diego Destructico's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Tapia throws a left that rocks Destructico and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Tapia dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Destructico regain composure!
Destructico is still in real trouble! Can Tapia finish him? Tapia wants to stand but Destructico is controlling his arm. Destructico seems to have recovered his senses. Destructico sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Destructico gets full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Destructico has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tapia can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Destructico is breathing heavily. Tapia avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Destructico escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tapia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Tapia preventing the sweep. Destructico has his foot on Tapia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tapia works his way back into a safe position though. Tapia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Destructico looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tapia is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Tapia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Destructico looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tapia has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Destructico is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
