Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddy Hwang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Caio Preuss! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Preuss on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
A head kick misses from Hwang. Preuss forces Hwang back against the cage and clinches. Preuss jumps guard.
Hwang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hwang wants to stand but Preuss is controlling his posture from full guard. Hwang won't allow Preuss to sweep him here. Hwang decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Preuss, up you get! Preuss closes the distance but Hwang moves to the side and Hwang counters with a body kick. Hwang has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Preuss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Preuss tries to clinch and Hwang counters with a good, hard body kick but Preuss shrugs it off. Preuss looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Preuss shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hwang pushes Preuss off looking to stand but Preuss dives back in and keeps control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hwang is not content to let Preuss control the position. Preuss missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hwang is trying to stand back up but Preuss is controlling him
Hwang is refusing to be controlled, as Preuss sits in half guard. Hwang wants to get back to his feet. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. A big right from Preuss misses. Hwang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Preuss shoots in and drives through. Hwang sprawls well. Preuss avoids a kick to the body.
Preuss wants to counter the offense by Hwang and move into the clinch position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Preuss closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hwang quickly recovers to half guard. Preuss tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hwang knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Still in half guard, Preuss seems content to control. Hwang wants to get back to his feet.
Hwang kicks off Preuss and gets to his feet. Preuss shoots in and gets a takedown into Hwang's guard. Preuss gets to his feet. Hwang looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Preuss moves into range and clinches up with Hwang. Preuss drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hwang gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hwang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hwang misses with a kick to the body.
Preuss throws a sloppy head kick and Hwang moves out of range easily. Hwang looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Preuss shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hwang is trying to defend but Preuss finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Hwang is trying to stand.
Hwang pushes Preuss off and gets back to his feet. Hwang throws a nice head kick!

Hwang really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hwang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Preuss shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Preuss decides to stand and escape the position. Preuss moves out of range as Hwang throws a body kick.

Preuss shoots in but no luck this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Caio Preuss will probably get the nod. That's time! Hwang's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Preuss closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Hwang is trying to stand.

Hwang won't allow Preuss to pass to mount. Hwang has one foot on Preuss's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Preuss dives in and scores a takedown into Hwang's guard. Hwang is working an open guard so Preuss takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Hwang throws a head kick that misses. Caio Preuss is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Preuss gets a double leg takedown into Hwang's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hwang has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Preuss is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Hwang can't find room to land a body shot as Preuss controls the action.
Hwang tries to throw a body punch but Preuss avoids it by throwing Hwang back against the cage. Preuss breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Preuss closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hwang to the mat! Hwang manages to get full guard. Hwang is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Preuss trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Preuss wants to control from the top but Hwang keeps moving. Preuss showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Hwang is looking to stand up but Preuss isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hwang scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Preuss fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hwang sprawls well initially but Preuss persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hwang kicks Preuss off and gets back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Preuss shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hwang napping and manages to drive through into side control! Preuss throws a shot from downtown. Hwang moves away and avoids it. Hwang throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Hwang throws a head kick but Preuss moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Preuss fails with a takedown attempt. Preuss drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Preuss wants to control from the top but Hwang keeps moving. Hwang wants to stand but Preuss is controlling the position. Preuss is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Hwang wants to stand up but Preuss is controlling him. Preuss stands and throws Hwang's legs to the side, diving into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Eddy Hwang will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Preuss shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hwang but Hwang pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hwang throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Hwang explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Preuss avoids the head kick by Hwang.
Hwang backing away here, and Preuss unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Hwang throws a wild body kick that Preuss sees coming a mile off. Preuss tries to land a front kick but Hwang steps back. Hwang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Eddy Hwang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caio Preuss. Preuss avoids the head kick by Hwang.

Preuss has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hwang. Preuss drives through and clinches with Hwang against the cage.
Preuss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Preuss pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hwang is keeping the position for now. Preuss gets to his feet. Hwang looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hwang is trying to break the clinch but Preuss has him pressed against the cage. Hwang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hwang throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A combination from Preuss does no damage. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Preuss is defended easily by Hwang.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Caio Preuss. I think Preuss has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
