PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Haddidi Diouf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Schwahn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Haddidi Diouf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Schwahn!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schwahn tries to sprawl but Diouf drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Diouf is looking to take a break and control but Schwahn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Schwahn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Schwahn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diouf manages to get himself to full guard.

Diouf is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Schwahn is not content to let Diouf control the position.
Schwahn controlling the position for now.
Diouf is keen to just control but Schwahn is a slippery customer.

Schwahn looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Schwahn throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Schwahn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Diouf pulls his head out easily.
Schwahn manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schwahn scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Schwahn trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Schwahn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diouf can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Diouf will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Diouf got a little sloppy there for a moment and Schwahn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diouf has managed to get both his arms back between Schwahn's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schwahn trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Diouf won't allow Schwahn to sweep him here.
Diouf has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Schwahn is proving hard to escape from.
Schwahn lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Diouf is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Schwahn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Diouf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Schwahn is looking to work some ground and pound but Diouf has wrist control.
Diouf is trying to keep Schwahn in close.

Diouf had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schwahn defends it easily.
Diouf utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Diouf can't keep his opponent in guard - Schwahn advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Schwahn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Schwahn drops an elbow to the side of Diouf's head.
Schwahn takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Schwahn is nestled in close to Diouf, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Schwahn lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Schwahn not doing much here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Schwahn is trying to control. Diouf wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Schwahn dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Schwahn scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Schwahn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diouf shoots in looking for a takedown but Schwahn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diouf's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Diouf will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Schwahn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Diouf misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Schwahn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Diouf shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schwahn but Schwahn pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Haddidi Diouf. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schwahn connects with a body shot.
Schwahn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Haddidi Diouf has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schwahn lands a slapping body shot.
Haddidi Diouf is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Oooh a lovely combination from Schwahn sends Diouf down but not out. Schwahn dives into side control looking to finish.


Diouf is rocked!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big shot lands for Schwahn! That's hurt Diouf! Will he recover? Schwahn fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Schwahn!
