Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Parsons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julius Octavius! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Octavius misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Parsons misses with a takedown and Octavius counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Octavius trying to control the position from guard on top but Parsons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Parsons had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Octavius is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Parsons Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Octavius's back instead. Parsons tightening his grip on Octavius, looking for the choke. Parsons patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Octavius tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Octavius is working to get back to half guard.
Parsons has control of Octavius's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Octavius regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Octavius stops Parsons from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Octavius working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Parsons trying to control but Octavius is having none of it. Parsons prevents Octavius from getting the reversal. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Octavius slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Octavius wants to control but Parsons is keeping busy and won't allow it. Octavius slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Octavius is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Parsons rolls with it to try and escape but Octavius cranks on the arm and Parsons is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
