The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiberio fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thesz manages to avoid it.
Thesz drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Tiberio defends it well.
Thesz attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Tiberio blocks a low kick nicely.
Tiberio fires out a quick counter leg kick but Thesz just manages to avoid it.
Thesz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Thesz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Thesz throws a low kick but it's checked well by Tiberio.
A swing and a miss from Thesz.
Thesz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thesz lands a head kick. Tiberio smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Thesz motions for Tiberio to come forward. Thesz throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Thesz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tiberio gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Thesz throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Thesz has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Tiberio is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Thesz misses with a right hand
and Tiberio counters with a body kick that stops Thesz in his tracks momentarily.
Tiberio scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thesz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Tiberio fakes the leg kick and cracks Thesz in the body.
Thesz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tiberio takes a swing at Thesz's ribcage but misses.
Tiberio connects with the punch.
We've been told by Tiberio's head coaches at Mean Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Thesz throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thesz lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tiberio has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tiberio and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Tiberio lands a nice shot that snaps Thesz's head back.
Valmir Tiberio is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A cross from Thesz lands.
Thesz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tiberio's waist but Tiberio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thesz off to one side.
Thesz misses with a left hand

and Tiberio counters with a nice right hand that sends Thesz toppling to the canvas! Thesz scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Tiberio finish him?!

Thesz is rocked!

It looks like Aloysius Martin Thesz has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thesz glances at the clock... BAM! Tiberio nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Thesz crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Thesz is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Valmir Tiberio!
