PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seifer Almasy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juha Koistinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Almasy comes to the cage accompanied by The Black Mages - Force Your Way. On his way into the cage it seems that Seifer Almasy has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Seifer Almasy seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Seifer Almasy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Juha Koistinen!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koistinen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Almasy is fending him off so far but Koistinen persists. Nope, Almasy circles away and we're back to standing.
Almasy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Koistinen tries for a takedown but Almasy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Koistinen gets tackled into the cage by Almasy. Almasy maintains the clinch.

Almasy gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koistinen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Almasy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Koistinen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Almasy has managed to get both his arms back between Koistinen's legs - danger averted.

Koistinen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Almasy throws an elbow that misses. Koistinen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Almasy's guard. Nice move by Koistinen!

Koistinen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Almasy sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Almasy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Almasy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Koistinen's guard.


Koistinen is looking for a triangle but Almasy pushes his legs off easily.
Almasy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Almasy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Almasy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Koistinen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Almasy manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Almasy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Koistinen is one step ahead there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Seifer Almasy will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Koistinen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Almasy tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Koistinen manages to circle out of the way.
Koistinen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Almasy defends well and Koistinen ends up having to push Almasy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Almasy is looking to counter the offense by Koistinen and move into the clinch.
Koistinen lands with a kick to the temple. Almasy shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Seifer Almasy has been cut.

Almasy takes the fight into the clinch.

Almasy has picked Koistinen up - he's going for a ride! Almasy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Koistinen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Almasy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Almasy's back!

Koistinen has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Koistinen is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Almasy wants to control his opponent's hands but Koistinen gets his hands free.
Almasy tries to escape the position.

Koistinen is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Almasy is defending well though. Koistinen let's go of the attempt for now.

Koistinen has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Almasy has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
You can see the frustration on Almasy's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Almasy wants to get back to his feet.
Koistinen controlling well, preventing Almasy from escaping the position.

Koistinen looking for the choke but no joy.

Koistinen is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Almasy defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Koistinen is looking for the choke from the back position but Almasy is controlling his hands well.

Koistinen looking to break Almasy's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Almasy remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Koistinen will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

I really don't envy Almasy right now.

Koistinen is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Almasy knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Almasy for a finish.

Koistinen is working for a rear naked choke. Almasy is not defending it well and Koistinen has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Almasy refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Almasy's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Juha Koistinen!
