Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sven Hansson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Part! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Part darts in looking for a takedown but Hansson gets double underhooks and turns Part into the cage. Hansson throws a quick inside leg kick. Part tries to close the distance and clinch but Hansson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Part fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hansson connects with a leg kick. Part looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Part on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Hansson throws a front kick aimed at Part's knee but Part avoids it well. Hansson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hansson wants it to stay on the feet. As Part backs away, Hansson returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Hansson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Hansson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Part. Sven Hansson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Part. Hansson jabbing away but nothing is landing. Part darts in looking for a takedown but Hansson gets double underhooks and turns Part into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hansson avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Hansson tried to counter with a leg kick but Part avoided it. Part takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Part tries to clinch but Hansson is having none of it. Part is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hansson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hansson lands a nice hook to Part's body. Part takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Part has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hansson. Sven Hansson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Part shoots in looking for a takedown but Hansson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Part's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Part throws a sloppy body shot
and Hansson counters with an inside leg kick. Part looks winded! Hansson pounces like a tiger and cracks Part with a vicious hook! Part is down but not out! Hansson follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sven Hansson!
