PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Havener (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Utah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Havener's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, My Dick: Mickey Avalon. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 23 - 3, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Havener!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johny Utah!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Havener throws a half hearted mid kick.
Havener looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Utah shoots for a double leg takedown but Havener sprawls well. He's pushed Utah's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Utah shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Havener shoots in for a takedown but Utah shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Utah is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Utah lands a slapping body shot.
Utah circles away from the clinch attempt
and Utah counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Havener stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Havener wants it to stay on the feet.
Andrew Havener has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johny Utah.
Utah fails to land the takedown.
Nice sprawl there from Havener as Utah shoots in.
Utah closes the distance and clinches up with Havener, looking for a takedown. Utah pushes Havener against the cage but Havener circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Utah is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Havener shoots for a takedown but Utah saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Utah fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Utah rushes Havener and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Havener is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Utah is defending well for now.

Utah manages to break the clinch.

Havener instigates a clinch.
Utah jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Havener walks away with a smile on his face. Utah gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice body kick from Havener.
Havener tries to clinch up but Utah circles away and keeps his distance.

Havener pushes Utah up against the cage in a clinch.
Havener is looking to control Utah's arms but Utah gets an underhook and turns him. Now Havener has his back to the cage.

Havener breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Havener closes the distance and clinches.
Utah managing to block the knees to the body from Havener.
Havener looking to throw knees to the head but Utah is blocking nicely.
Havener stops a takedown attempt from Utah.

Utah wants the takedown. Havener is fighting it off but Utah persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Havener's guard against the cage.
Utah scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Utah stops Havener from standing up.
Havener not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Utah stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Havener swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Utah wanted to stand there but Havener had control of the position.
Utah trying to control but Havener is working from the bottom.
Utah missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Havener throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Havener throws a sloppy head kick and Utah moves out of range easily.

Havener drives through and clinches with Utah against the cage.
Havener lands an elbow just above Utah 's eye.
Utah fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Havener connects with a nasty looking knee right to Utah's face.


It looks like Johny Utah has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Utah blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Havener tries to land knees in the clinch but Utah avoids the damage to the body.

Havener escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Havener wants to clinch.
Utah blocks a head kick by Havener.
Utah tries for a takedown but Havener sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Havener is trying hard to land a takedown here. Utah sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Utah keeps the fight on the outside.
Utah throws out a counter right but Havener avoids it with no problem.
Utah shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Havener pinned against the cage. Havener gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Andrew Havener seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Utah takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Utah throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Havener's waist but Havener gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Utah off to one side.
As Utah tries to get set, Havener tries to push him back and clinch up but Utah manages to avoid the attempt.
Utah staying out of range there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Utah shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Utah or perhaps it was just good defense by Havener, which made it look bad.
Utah looks for a takedown but Havener sprawls well.
Utah looks winded!
Havener fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Havener pushes Utah up against the cage in a clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Utah tries to pull guard but Havener holds him up against the cage and eventually Utah drops back down to his feet.

Havener gets underhooks to prevent Utah's takedown attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Utah has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Havener avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Havener wants to clinch up but Utah keeps it at a distance.
Havener dives in for a single leg takedown but Utah sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Utah looks for a takedown but Havener sprawls well.
Havener seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Havener misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Utah will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Havener connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
The fighters circle, before Havener throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Utah's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Havener lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
