PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josh Peck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Josh Peck has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Josh Peck seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Peck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Hogan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Darius Henderson and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Hogan ducks under a wild hook from Peck.
Peck throws a poor cross that misses
and Hogan counters with a leg kick.
Peck waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hogan.
Hogan staying out of range there.
Peck throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hogan counters with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hogan lands a big head kick that sends Peck tumbling to the mat! Hogan takes a step backwards and waves Peck back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Peck is rocked!


It looks like Josh Peck has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hogan thuds his shin into the meat of Peck's side.

Peck gets the takedown into side control.

Hogan can't do much from the bottom here.
Hogan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Peck throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Hogan is trying to get back to half guard.
Peck misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Peck with the ground and pound but Hogan regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Peck has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Peck seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hogan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peck is working away from the top position though.
Peck not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Peck looks to land a body kick but Hogan moved away.
Hogan tries a quick counter leg kick but Peck is wise to it.
Hogan misses with a leg kick.
Peck appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Peck shoots and misses
and Hogan counters with a nice uppercut.
Hogan avoids the body shot from Peck.
Hogan follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Hogan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peck.
Peck throws a head kick that misses.
Hogan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Peck.
Hogan blocks a head kick by Peck.
Hogan moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hogan getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Peck throws a leg kick
and Hogan counters with an outside leg kick.

Peck shoots in and bounces Hogan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hogan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peck. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hogan wants to stand up but Peck is controlling him.
Peck sitting in guard here, content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Hogan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Josh Peck's cut.
That's time! Peck's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hogan is looking to chop away at Peck's legs.
A low kick from Peck misses
and Hogan counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Peck throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Peck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hogan napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Peck goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hogan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Peck but great work by Hogan.
Peck manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hogan wants to pass the guard but Peck is defending well.

Hogan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Peck keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Peck tries to roll over but Hogan keeps him under control.
Still in half guard, Hogan seems content to control.
Peck trying to hold on to Hogan's head to control him but Hogan postures up.
Hogan stalling.
Josh Peck overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fighters are battling for position here. Peck manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Peck is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hogan is aware though and is defending well.
Peck is trying to control the position but Hogan postures up.
Peck wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hogan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hogan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hogan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Peck has his takedown stuffed
and Hogan makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Peck really felt that one!
Peck shoots in but Hogan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hogan moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hogan throws a low kick, looking for Peck's leg but Peck calmly moves out of range.
Peck half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Hogan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Good leg kick by Hogan there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hogan throws a head kick but Peck moves out of range.
Hogan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Peck.

Peck shoots for a double leg takedown but Hogan sprawls well. He's pushed Peck's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Peck could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hogan lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hogan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hogan wants it to stay on the feet.
Hogan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Peck. Peck circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Hogan lands a leg kick that knocks Peck off balance momentarily.
Peck tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hogan is able to avoid easily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hogan.
That kick from Hogan tenderised Peck's leg. Peck is trying to keep his angry face on.

Peck throws a head kick but Hogan moves out of range.
Peck throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Hogan counters with a head kick that drops Peck to the mat! Peck scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Oh Peck is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hogan chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Peck seems to have got his legs back now.
Peck steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hogan. That one must have hurt.
Hogan slaps away a takedown attempt from Peck, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hogan steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Hogan connects with an inside leg kick.
Joe Hogan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed right hand from Peck misses the target.
It seemed like Hogan was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Hogan misses with the body kick

and Peck counters with a shoot takedown. Hogan fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Joe Hogan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Peck sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hogan's guard.
Hogan is concentrating on defense, preventing Peck from advancing position.
Josh Peck has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Peck landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Joe Hogan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hogan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
