PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Otha Carson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shepard has chosen Deftones- Ferticeira as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Shepard!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepard misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Shepard jabs Carson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Carson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shepard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shepard scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Carson forces Shepard back against the cage and clinches.

Shepard jumps guard but Carson stands there with Shepard around his waist. Shepard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shepard shoots in for a double leg but Carson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

John Shepard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

John Shepard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Carson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Carson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Shepard is working to avoid the ground and pound but Carson connects with a decent elbow.

Carson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shepard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Shepard shoots in looking for a takedown but Carson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shepard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Carson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shepard sprawls and moves away.
Otha Carson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Shepard.

Shepard has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Carson after a bit of a struggle.

Otha Carson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Shepard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
