Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jasun Wharton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Bane! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wharton slips a jab from Bane. Bane stuns Wharton with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Bane tries to bum rush Wharton with a series of wild strikes but Wharton uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wharton wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Wharton shoots for a double leg takedown but Bane sprawls well. He's pushed Wharton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Wharton throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Bane to counter with a crisp jab. Bane swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wharton moves away from the strike by Bane. Wharton jabbing away but nothing is landing. A jab from Bane does it's job there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bane connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wharton's hands. Wharton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bane.
Bane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bane stuffs the takedown attempt from Wharton. Wharton gets slowly back to his feet.

Wharton misses with a lunging right hand
and Bane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've been hearing reports that Wharton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Bane avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Bane with a jab. Bane connects with the punch. Bane throws a shot from downtown. Wharton moves away and avoids it. Wharton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bane swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jasun Wharton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bane wants it to stay on the feet. Bane takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Wharton avoids the body shot from Bane.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Bane lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Bane misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wharton takes a swing at Bane's ribcage but misses. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bane keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Danga de danga de dang - Bane scores with a four punch combination! Bane throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. An attempted straight right counter from Wharton misses the target. Bane misses with a body kick. A swing and a miss from Bane. Wharton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bane sprawls well. Bane wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wharton gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bane looks to land a left hand but Wharton moved out of range nicely. Wharton drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bane sprawls and moves away. Wharton takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Bane slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Bane throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wharton sees it coming and avoids it easily. Wharton misses with a hook. Bane ducked under it nicely. Bane keeps Wharton at a distance using the push kick. Bane looks to throw the jab but Wharton is out of range. Bane uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wharton. Bane looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Billy Bane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bane misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Wharton counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bane thinking. Wharton takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Bane lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. A left lands for Bane.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by Bane. That's going to slow Wharton down. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wharton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bane. Bane throws a shot from downtown. Wharton moves away and avoids it. Wharton takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Bane stuffs the takedown. Bane tests Wharton's chin there with a solid looking shot. The fighters circling - Wharton throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Bane lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Wharton takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Bane connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. The crowd cheers as Bane lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wharton doesn't seem phased though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Billy Bane dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Wharton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bane appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Wharton shoots in looking for a takedown. Bane tries to sprawl out of it but Wharton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Billy Bane seems to be getting the better of the standup. Bane listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Wharton defending well as Bane loads up on a big left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bane scores with a sloppy right hand. Wharton should have avoided that one. Wharton on the wrong end of a nice hook. Wharton takes one on the button. Bane takes a body punch but keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bane sizes up Wharton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Wharton is rocked! Nice defenses there by Wharton. Wharton was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Bane misses with an uppercut. Wharton saw that one coming. Wharton takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Bane scores with a crisp jab that stopped Wharton in his tracks. Oh Wharton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Wharton on the wrong end of a nice jab. Good shot there by Bane. Bane drops Wharton with a big left hand! Wharton is injured, injured bad! Bane jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Billy Bane! Billy Bane was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
