PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Judo Jim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Judo Jim has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Judo Jim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Antonio Silva!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jim darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Silva looks winded!

Jim shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jim seems to be looking for submissions.
Jim throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Jim wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.
Jim tries to pass the half guard into mount. Silva knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Silva is staying active underneath Jim, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jim missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Jim is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jim closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva did well to prevent Jim getting side control.

Jim is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.

Jim is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Despite the aggression on Silva's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Jim misses with a series of wild punches.

Jim closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva did well to prevent Jim getting side control.

Jim is trying to control. Silva wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jim is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jim thows a huge punch but Silva dodges it nicely.
Jim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jim shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Silva is trying to hold Jim in close to prevent damage but Jim has managed to pass into half guard.

Jim seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Jim is keen to just control but Silva is a slippery customer.

Jim seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Silva wants to improve his position but Jim is controlling well.
Jim is looking to advance position but Silva won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jim tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jim is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Silva like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Silva from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Judo Jim!
