Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daved Hassan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mamluk Abasid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daved Hassan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mamluk Abasid!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Chris Dean and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abasid with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hassan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Abasid is defending against the submission attempts here by Hassan.

Hassan is working for a kimura but Abasid is defending it quite comfortably.

Hassan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hassan is working for a submission of some sort.
Abasid tries to roll over but Hassan keeps him under control.

Hassan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hassan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Abasid defends it well.

Abasid tries to roll over but Hassan keeps him under control.

Hassan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abasid on the ground.

Hassan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hassan wants to stand up but Abasid manages to regain full guard.

Hassan drops back looking for a leg! Abasid is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Abasid manages to kick Hassan off! Hassan jumps back into Abasid's guard.
Abasid is trying to control the position but Hassan postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Abasid or perhaps it was just good defense by Hassan, which made it look bad.
Hassan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nice sprawl there from Hassan as Abasid shoots in.
Daved Hassan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mamluk Abasid.
Abasid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hassan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Abasid shoots in for a double leg but Hassan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hassan tries to counter by clinching up but Abasid breaks away and moves out of range.

Abasid wants to stand and escape but Hassan is having none of it.

Abasid controls Hassan momentarily but Hassan frees himself.
Abasid bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hassan's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Abasid trying to control but Hassan is working from the bottom.

Abasid got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hassan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abasid has managed to get both his arms back between Hassan's legs - danger averted.

Hassan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Abasid can do to turn this around?
Abasid is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Daved Hassan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hassan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Abasid manages to circle out of the way.

Hassan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Abasid controls the pace.
Abasid is looking to work some ground and pound but Hassan has wrist control.

Abasid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hassan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hassan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Abasid is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hassan.

A close second round but Mamluk Abasid will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Abasid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hassan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Abasid tries to bum rush Hassan with a series of wild strikes but Hassan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hassan appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Abasid uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hassan.
Abasid tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hassan defends well and Abasid ends up having to push Hassan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Mamluk Abasid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Hassan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Abasid's guard.

Hassan wants to get up but he can't break Abasid's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Abasid might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hassan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hassan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Abasid is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Abasid has escaped and now he's on top!

Hassan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Abasid wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mamluk Abasid comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Abasid has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
