The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Kerpel just misses with a punch to the body.
Mendes appears to be looking for a big counter.
De Kerpel misses with a combination

and Mendes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in De Kerpel's guard.
Mendes stands and throws De Kerpel's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mendes advances to full mount.
De Kerpel wants to try and get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendes is looking to work his way around to De Kerpel's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Mendes has hold of De Kerpel's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and De Kerpel manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mendes moves to take his opponent's back.

De Kerpel won't enjoy being in this position. Mendes looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - De Kerpel is tapping - it's over boys! Mendes picks up the submission victory!
