The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A decent looking cross lands there for Sharp.
Cruz tries to close the distance and clinch but Sharp swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sharp swats away the attempt to clinch by Cruz.
Sharp looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Sharp works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Sharp thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cruz if he has to take too many more of those.

Cruz doesn't manage to clinch there - Sharp circles away.

Sharp is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Sharp counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cruz thinking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Sharp counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Sharp fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cruz is breathing heavily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cruz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sharp darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Cruz tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Sharp counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cruz glances at the clock... BAM! Sharp nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Cruz crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Cruz is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Victor Sharp!
A very excited looking Victor Sharp made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
