The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mctanned slips under a jab from Turpin.
Mctanned feints the counter takedown.
Turpin lands a nice looking body kick.
Mctanned takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Turpin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
It looks like Paul Mctanned has been cut.
Turpin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Turpin misses with a double jab.
And Mctanned tries to counter it with a takedown but Turpin pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Randolph Turpin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turpin misses with a right hand
and Mctanned counters with a nice double leg into side control. Turpin won't be happy with that.
Mctanned tries to advance to mount but Turpin denies him.
Mctanned in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Turpin is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Qube MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mctanned is trying to get an arm triangle but Turpin is defending well.
Mctanned has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Turpin is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mctanned yanks on the arm and Turpin is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mctanned.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul Mctanned! Paul Mctanned retains his heavyweight title!
An intense looking Paul Mctanned took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'That's 3 losses for you man. Time to look for a new org if you have any title aspirations...'.
