The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garrett misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Smith slips a nice elbow through Garrett's hands, connecting with Garrett's forehead.
Garrett tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
Garrett keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garrett looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Garrett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is nestled in close to Garrett, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith winds up and cracks Garrett with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Garrett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Garrett has hold of Smith's hands but Smith slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Smith is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Garrett is hurt! He's hurt bad - Smith fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Garrett from any more punishment! Congratulations to Smith! Great finish!
