The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hartin misses with a few strikes there.
Conner keeps the fight on the outside. Conner shoots for a double leg takedown but Hartin sprawls well. He's pushed Conner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Horrible takedown by Conner or perhaps it was just good defense by Hartin which made him look bad. Hartin wants to clinch up but Conner keeps it at a distance. Conner fails with a takedown attempt. Tristan Hartin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Conner. Hartin tries to clinch up but Conner circles away and keeps his distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hartin is looking to clinch but Conner is avoiding it.

Not yet Hartin, not yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hartin keeping moving, preventing Conner from controlling successfully. Conner postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hartin has hold of Conner's hands but Conner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Hartin trying to hold on to Conner's head to control him but Conner postures up.

Conner scoring with punches from side control. Conner tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Conner looks gassed! Conner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hartin, who protects the arm well. Conner goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hartin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Conner but great work by Hartin. Hartin scores with a couple of short elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Conner is trying to get back to half guard. Hartin works to advance to full mount. Conner defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Hartin is standing up, even though he is in mount. Hartin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. It looks like Hartin is going to stand back up.
Hartin is trying to control the action in half guard but Conner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Conner tries to get to full guard but Hartin has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but John Conner will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hartin clinches but Conner breaks the clinch and Conner counters with a nice double leg into guard. Hartin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Conner is controlling him. Hartin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Conner trying to control but Hartin is working from the bottom. Conner postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hartin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Conner, into his guard. Conner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hartin is one step ahead there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hartin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Hartin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hartin clinches up with Conner and pushes him back against the cage. Hartin is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Conner tries to pull guard but Hartin holds him up against the cage and eventually Conner drops back down to his feet.

Conner is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hartin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hartin has escaped and now he's on top!

Hartin tries to stand but Conner is controlling from the bottom. Conner keeping moving, preventing Hartin from controlling successfully. Conner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. John Conner has got the better of the ground game so far. Conner throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hartin uses it to pass to side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hartin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Conner swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hartin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hartin lands in his opponent's guard. Hartin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Conner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hartin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Hartin wants to stand but Conner has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hartin trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conner keeping moving, preventing Hartin from controlling successfully. Conner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hartin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Conner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hartin's back instead. Hartin looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Conner has got his arm under Hartin's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Hartin has spun round into Conner's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Hartin stands up from Conner's guard - Hartin perhaps looking for a knockout. Tristan Hartin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hartin closes the distance but Conner moves to the side and Conner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Conner.
