Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eliong Cabbat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcos Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eliong Cabbat! The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab by Griffin.
It looks like Eliong Cabbat has been cut. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cabbat. Cabbat throws a series of punches but Griffin moves out of range. Griffin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabbat sees it coming and avoids it easily. Griffin closes the distance and lands a one-two. Cabbat avoids the body shot from Griffin.
Griffin clobbers Cabbat with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Cabbat looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Griffin clinches up against the cage. Griffin throws a head punch that misses. Griffin turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! This has been an exciting period of action! Cabbat is trying to improve his position. Cabbat is trying to control Griffin's posture but Griffin avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin grinds an elbow into Cabbat's temple. The ground and pound from Griffin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Cabbat takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Griffin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cabbat on the ground. Griffin working away. Griffin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cabbat, who protects the arm well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cabbat is trying to control Griffin's posture but Griffin avoids it. The strikes coming from Griffin are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Cabbat struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Griffin. Griffin cracks Cabbat with a big elbow. Cabbat gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cabbat wants to improve his position but Griffin is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin is pressing down on Cabbat's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cabbat is holding on for now. Cabbat is looking to improve his position.

Griffin scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Griffin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Griffin prevents Cabbat from improving his position. Cabbat looks gassed! Cabbat has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Griffin is working away from the top position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cabbat is trying to get back to full guard. Griffin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cabbat keeps working. Cabbat is trying to control but can't.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cabbat takes a kick to the side of the head. Griffin jabbing away but nothing is landing. Griffin throws a combination that misses and Cabbat counters with a lovely straight right hand! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cabbat moves out of range of the strikes. Cabbat drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcos Griffin dominated that round. The cut man is working on Eliong Cabbat's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Cabbat slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
That has opened up Eliong Cabbat's cut even more. Griffin throws a right and a left that both miss. Griffin is looking to clinch. Griffin throws a hook but Cabbat blocks it. Cabbat avoids a punch combination nicely.
Griffin looks to land a right hand but Cabbat moved out of range. Griffin avoids a lazy jab quite easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Griffin throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cabbat counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Griffin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabbat sees it coming and avoids it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cabbat throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Griffin. Griffin looks to score with a jab to the body but Cabbat is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin tries to clinch but Cabbat is having none of it. Griffin takes a swing at Cabbat's ribcage but misses. Cabbat lands with a nice body punch. Nice jab there from Griffin. Cabbat lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Cabbat tries to clinch up but Griffin circles away and keeps his distance. Griffin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Cabbat shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Cabbat's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Griffin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Cabbat takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Griffin thuds a left hand into Cabbat's body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Griffin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Cabbat looking to control.
Cabbat wants to stand and escape but Griffin is having none of it. Cabbat controls Griffin momentarily but Griffin frees himself. Griffin is working Cabbat over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Griffin stopping the sweep attempt from Cabbat. Griffin is working Cabbat over from the guard. Cabbat is looking for a sweep. Griffin is putting a hurting on Cabbat here, landing some big shots from side control. Griffin advances to mount. Griffin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Marcos Griffin dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Eliong Cabbat's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Griffin scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Horrible takedown by Cabbat or perhaps it was just good defense by Griffin which made him look bad. Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cabbat sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Griffin lands strikes from half guard. Cabbat trying to control but Griffin postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cabbat avoids the head kick by Griffin.
Griffin throws a head kick that misses. A combination from Cabbat does no damage. Marcos Griffin is winning the standup battle so far. Griffin throws a head kick but Cabbat moves out of range.
Griffin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Cabbat on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch but Cabbat swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cabbat shoots and misses and Griffin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cabbat's guard now. Griffin controls from within his opponent's guard. Griffin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cabbat is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Griffin throws a jab when Cabbat was well out of range. Griffin scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cabbat in his tracks. Griffin throws a big shot that misses. Griffin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Cabbat bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Griffin's head. Marcos Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cabbat ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Griffin throws a lazy right hand but Cabbat sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Griffin lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Cabbat uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Griffin has time to react. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cabbat. Marcos Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eliong Cabbat. Cabbat looks to land a left hand but Griffin moved out of range nicely. Marcos Griffin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Griffin looks to land a combination but Cabbat avoids it well. Griffin tries to clinch there but Cabbat circles away.
Cabbat gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Griffin circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Marcos Griffin showed his dominance in that final round. Well Griffin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
