PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arnaldo Bernados (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Little Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bernados kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is run this town. Little Joe is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arnaldo Bernados!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Little Joe!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernados fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bernados lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Bernados looks to clinch
and Joe counters with a left and a right that stings Bernados.

Joe gets a takedown into half guard.
Bernados is looking for a sweep. Joe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Joe is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bernados manages to get to full guard.
Joe wants to pass the guard but Bernados is keeping the position.

Bernados wants to control but Joe passes easily into half guard.
Joe is controlling the pace.
Bernados is trying to control but can't.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Joe is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bernados is just riding it out for now. Joe eventually gives up the hold.
Bernados works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bernados is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Joe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bernados's waist but Bernados gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Joe off to one side.
Bernados tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Joe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Joe drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Joe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bernados is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Joe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bernados has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Joe has managed to get both his arms back between Bernados's legs - danger averted.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Joe shoots in and bounces Bernados off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Joe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bernados manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Joe manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe wants to sweep here but Bernados controlling him for the moment.
Bernados postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bernados wants to control from the top but Joe keeps moving.

Joe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bernados defends well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bernados is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Joe takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Joe ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Joe dives in for a single leg takedown but Bernados sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Arnaldo Bernados is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Joe plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Joe tries a head kick but it misses.

Bernados was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Arnaldo Bernados has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Little Joe.
Joe is breathing heavily.
Joe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Joe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Joe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bernados walks away with a smile on his face. Joe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Little Joe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bernados shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Joe sprawls well. Joe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bernados gets slowly back to his feet.

Bernados is fighting to break Joe's control of his arms but Joe is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Joe has his foot on Bernados's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bernados works his way back into a safe position though.

Little Joe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Joe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
