The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rocha was covering up waiting for the punch and Mendes finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mendes wants to pass the guard but Rocha is keeping the position.
Mendes advances to half guard.
Rocha might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rocha is defending against the submission attempts here by Mendes.
Mendes works his way into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rocha is in all sorts of trouble here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rocha has given up his back. Will we see Mendes going for some submissions?

Mendes working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Rocha is doing well to defend. Mendes seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Rocha is forced to tap and this one is over!
