PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ike Francis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francois Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Francois Dubois was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ike Francis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Francois Dubois!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Francis with a poor takedown
and Dubois counters with a two punch combo.
Francois Dubois seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dubois throws a sloppy head kick and Francis moves out of range easily.
Francis throws a big counter combination but Dubois scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Dubois dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Francis. That did some damage!
Dubois feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Francis's calf.
Dubois misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nice takedown defense from Dubois. No joy for Francis on that attempt.
Francis tries to clinch but Dubois is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dubois throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Francis was covering up waiting for the punch and Dubois finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Dubois drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Francis dives on top into guard.

Francis chips away with some ground and pound.
Francis throws a big elbow that misses.

Dubois will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Dubois has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Francis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dubois.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dubois manages to work his way to half guard, despite Francis's best efforts.
Francis stops Dubois from getting back to his feet.

Francis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dubois is trying to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Francis connects with a nice short shot to Dubois's temple.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Francis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dubois to the ground. Francis is now in Dubois's guard.

Dubois manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Francis tries to circle away but Dubois has him pinned against the cage.
Francis tries to stall but Dubois uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Francis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dubois gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dubois wants to stand and escape but instead Francis has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Francis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Dubois manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Francis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dubois sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Francis somewhat.

Dubois closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Francis to the mat! Francis manages to get full guard.
Dubois is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dubois seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dubois wants to get up but he can't break Francis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dubois keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Francis's head.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dubois throws a nice looking combination but Francis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Francis fires out a quick counter leg kick but Dubois just manages to avoid it.

Dubois gets a clinch.
Francis stalling the fight.
Francis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dubois prevents the takedown attempt.

Dubois breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Dubois closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dubois tries for a kimura but Francis is defending well.
Francis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Dubois wants to lay and pray for a moment but Francis keeps working.
Francis tries to bench press Dubois off him but Dubois keeps the position.
Francis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Francis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dubois connects with a decent elbow.
Dubois creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Francis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Dubois tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Francis on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Francis really is a fat lump.
Francis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dubois stands up and we're back to a striking position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Francois Dubois showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Dubois lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Dubois shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Francis napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Francis is rocked!

Dubois is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Francis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Oh Francis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Dubois decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Dubois cracks Francis's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Francis slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Dubois can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Francois Dubois!
