The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mitchel pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Mitchel is looking to clinch. Mitchel looks winded! Mitchel slips a jab and a cross from Aguirre.
Mitchel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aguirre swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mitchel just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromAguirre. Aguirre swats away the attempt to clinch by Mitchel. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aguirre has managed to clinch.

Aguirre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mitchel closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Aguirre is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mitchel's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Aguirre moves into full guard.
Aguirre pulls Mitchel in close to prevent any damage. Mitchel wants to control from the top but Aguirre keeps moving. Aguirre manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Aguirre is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguirre using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mitchel has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Aguirre tries to land knees in the clinch but Mitchel avoids the damage to the body. A frustrated look appears on Aguirre's face as he tries to break the clinch. Aguirre pulls guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Aguirre is controlling Mitchel's posture. Aguirre kicks Mitchel off and gets to his feet. Mitchel misses with an uppercut. Aguirre saw that one coming. Aguirre drives through and clinches with Mitchel against the cage.
Aguirre manages to break the clinch.

Aguirre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Aguirre stalling in the clinch.
Mitchel pulls Aguirre into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguirre is standing up over Mitchel. Mitchel looks to escape but Aguirre dives into side control.
Aguirre is working to tighten his grip on Mitchel's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mitchel has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Aguirre is really squeezing tight and eventually Mitchel passes out! Aguirre breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
