PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quincey Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Hell's Bells- AC/DC as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Quincey Ferguson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cain Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Ferguson - that will leave a mark!
Ferguson throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.
Ferguson wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ferguson was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones.
Ferguson throws a counter high kick but Jones was just alert enough to avoid it.

Jones has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ferguson.
Ferguson is looking to slow Jones down with leg kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ferguson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Quincey Ferguson will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ferguson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.

A looping hook to the body misses from Ferguson. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ferguson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Ferguson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ferguson moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Jones changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ferguson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
