Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Crawford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaudencio Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Crawford might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kanye West- New Slave. Gaudencio Roman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Crawford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crawford with a lazy takedown attempt and Roman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Roman is looking to slow Crawford down with leg kicks. Crawford chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Roman can pounce on him.
Roman swings for the body but Crawford moves out of range.
Crawford is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Roman. Roman shoots in for a takedown but Crawford shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Crawford's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Roman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Crawford scrambles back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roman throws a shot to the body.
Crawford gets caught flat footed, as Roman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Crawford is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Crawford throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This could be trouble! No, Roman has managed to free his arm - good work. Roman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Crawford is working away from the top position though. Roman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crawford. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Roman regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Crawford. Roman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Crawford is aware though and is defending well. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Crawford connects with a nice short shot to Roman's temple. Crawford has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Crawford is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Roman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Crawford goes for a takedown attempt but Roman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Roman has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Crawford is landing a low percentage of strikes. A chopping leg kick lands by Roman. Crawford wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Gaudencio Roman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Crawford misses with a takedown attempt and Crawford takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Crawford is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. A clash of legs there as Crawford blocks the low kick. Crawford seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
