Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brinkley Stanton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 12 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Laban Ladvik! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stanton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Stanton lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ladvik has his hands clasped together around Stanton's back. He's all about the action. Ladvik manages to escape and get back to his feet! Stanton moves into the clinch successfully.
Ladvik wants to get back to striking at distance but Stanton won't allow it.
Stanton stalling in the clinch but Ladvik improves position. Stanton has clasped his hands together around Ladvik's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stanton misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ladvik explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Excellent takedown into side control there by Stanton. Stanton has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Stanton trying to control the position but Ladvik is working away. Stanton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Stanton working away. Stanton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Stanton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ladvik wants to control but Stanton postures up. Stanton controls the position. Stanton in side control, throwing shots but Ladvik defends. Stanton throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Stanton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ladvik is pushing Stanton's head away, looking to escape. Stanton manages to hold on to the position though. Stanton laying and praying for a moment but Ladvik takes advantage and regains half guard. Stanton postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ladvik to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stanton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Stanton showed some decent athleticism there. Stanton is looking to take a break and control but Ladvik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Stanton trying to mount his opponent but Ladvik defends it. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ladvik. Ladvik fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Stanton was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Stanton clinches up against the cage. Ladvik breaks the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stanton closes the distance and clinches. Stanton manages to break the clinch.

Stanton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Stanton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Stanton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ladvik, who protects the arm well. Ladvik wants to control but Stanton postures up. Ladvik is not content to let Stanton control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ladvik is looking to regain half guard here but Stanton keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stanton is looking to take a break and control but Ladvik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ladvik explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Stanton instigates a clinch. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Ladvik. Stanton avoiding damage.
Stanton is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ladvik can't fight it off and eventually Stanton manages to take the fight to the floor. Ladvik looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stanton trying to control the position from guard on top but Ladvik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ladvik trying to control the position here. Stanton stands up and waves to Ladvik to follow him. Stanton forces Ladvik back against the cage and clinches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stanton gets a trip takedown into half guard. Ladvik looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Ladvik has one foot on Stanton's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Stanton gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Ladvik breaks the clinch.
Good exchange - Stanton coming out on top. Ladvik feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Ladvik wants to control from the top but Stanton keeps moving. Stanton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Stanton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ladvik is aware though and is defending well. Ladvik wants to control from the top but Stanton keeps moving. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ladvik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ladvik drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stanton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stanton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stanton!

Stanton thows a left - swing and a miss! Ladvik goes for a double leg but Stanton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stanton continues to drive forward. Ladvik throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stanton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ladvik is in Stanton's guard. Stanton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ladvik manages to get himself to full guard.
Stanton tries to free his leg and advance position but Ladvik is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ladvik is not content to let Stanton control the position. Stanton trying to mount his opponent but Ladvik defends it. Ladvik is staying active underneath Stanton, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Stanton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ladvik can do to turn this around?

Stanton feints and as Ladvik raises his hands in defense, Stanton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ladvik is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stanton is aware though and is defending well. Ladvik has his hands on Stanton's head, controlling the position. Stanton trying to control but Ladvik is working from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stanton passes easily into side control. Nice work. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Stanton is looking to take a break and control but Ladvik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Laban Ladvik has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Brinkley Stanton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
