PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Light (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Kvasov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Light comes to the cage accompanied by Ride for This-Fabolous. Kvasov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Diskoteka avaria-Nebo. Bobby Light could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Roman Kvasov's chin.

With a record of 28 - 34 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Kvasov!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kvasov misses with a few strikes there.
Light throws the left hand but Kvasov avoids the punch easily.
Light blocks a head kick by Kvasov.
Crunch! Kvasov slams his shin into Light's torso.
A head kick misses from Kvasov.
Light looks to score with a jab to the body but Kvasov is just out of range.
Kvasov scores with a hook to the body. Light takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kvasov, as that shot connected.

Oooooh!!! Kvasov has knocked Light down with a huge combo! Kvasov steps away and waves a wobbly Light back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Bobby Light has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Light is looking to clinch but Kvasov is avoiding it.
Kvasov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kvasov checks a leg kick.
Light bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Light steps into range and cracks Kvasov with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Kvasov flops backwards and Light dives into his guard looking to finish!

It looks like Roman Kvasov has been cut.
Light tries to free his leg and advance position but Kvasov is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kvasov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Light wants to pass the guard but Kvasov is keeping the position.
Kvasov wants to stand and escape but Light is having none of it.
Light engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Light trying to control the position from guard on top but Kvasov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Light tries a head kick but it misses.
Kvasov throws a shot from downtown. Light moves away and avoids it.
Kvasov avoids a punch combination nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Light.
Kvasov throws a nice looking combination but Light bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Light feinted with a counter takedown.
Kvasov lunges at Light with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Light's hand.
Light misses with a left hand

and Kvasov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Light gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Kvasov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Kvasov is defending against the submission attempts here by Light.
Light wants to take a breather but Kvasov is having none of it.

Kvasov looks like he's trying to stand up.
Light tries to pass to full mount but Kvasov defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Light content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Light pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kvasov throws a nice looking combination but Light bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Light dodges the punch combination from Kvasov.
Light looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kvasov is fending him off so far but Light persists. Nope, Kvasov circles away and we're back to standing.
Light is looking to clinch but Kvasov is avoiding it.

Light shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kvasov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Light stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kvasov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Roman Kvasov will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kvasov lands a right hook to the body.
Light tries a head kick but it misses.
Light looks to score with a jab to the body but Kvasov is just out of range.
Light fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kvasov avoids it really well and circles away.

Light shoots in for a takedown but Kvasov shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Light. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kvasov fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sloppy strikes from Kvasov. Those never looked like landing.
It looked like Light was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Kvasov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kvasov lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Light dives in for a single leg takedown but Kvasov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Light throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kvasov lands a brutal head kick. Light looks out on his feet and Kvasov throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
