The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicolae Roberto forces Mathis back against the cage and clinches.
Mathis is trying to drag Nicolae Roberto to the mat but Nicolae Roberto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mathis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Nicolae Roberto has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mathis regains guard immediately.
