Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 45 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Anzhor Azhiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Mikel!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mikel.
Azhiev shoots in for a double leg but Mikel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Azhiev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mikel is fending him off so far but Azhiev persists. Nope, Mikel circles away and we're back to standing.
Azhiev walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mikel.
Mikel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Azhiev.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anzhor Azhiev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mikel goes for a double leg but Azhiev avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Azhiev continues to drive forward.
Mikel drives through and clinches with Azhiev against the cage.
Mikel is pushing Azhiev up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Mikel can't find room to land a body shot as Azhiev controls the action.
Mikel scores with an uppercut up the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Azhiev drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Azhiev seems to have locked his on tight now - Mikel screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Azhiev, as he picks up the win!

Anzhor Azhiev took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
