Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Thane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Thane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thane slips a straight right by Escobar.
Thane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Escobar uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thane.
Escobar is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Escobar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Escobar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Thane tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Escobar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Thane wants to control but Escobar postures up.

Escobar dives in and grabs Thane's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thane pushes down on Escobar's head and hops out.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Escobar lands a head shot.
Escobar throws a jab but it's blocked by Thane.
We've been told by Thane's head coaches at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $425 fee) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A left lands for Thane.
Thane throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Escobar sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Escobar shoots in looking for a takedown but Thane manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Escobar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Escobar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thane tries to avoid it but Escobar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thane to the ground. Thane escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Escobar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Thane will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Thane tests Escobar's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Thane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Escobar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Escobar on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thane throws a series of punches but Escobar avoids them all with ease.
Michael Thane is winning the standup battle so far.

Escobar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michael Thane will probably get the nod.

Escobar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thane but Thane pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thane will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Escobar takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Thane lands a nice hook to Escobar's body. Escobar takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Thane, as that shot connected.
Escobar takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Escobar feints and as Thane raises his hands in defense, Escobar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Thane wants to sweep here but Escobar controlling him for the moment.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Escobar wants to control from the top but Thane keeps moving.

Escobar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Escobar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Thane is trying to control the position but Escobar postures up.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Thane enables Escobar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Thane manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thane pulls Escobar in close to his closed guard and prevents Escobar from doing any damage or advancing position.
