Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Kissel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Verbeek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kissel comes to the cage accompanied by Coal Chamber - Loco. The crowd seem to be enjoying Verbeek's choice of entrance music: Bring It On - Godsmack. 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darren Kissel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Verbeek! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Verbeek takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Kissel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kissel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kissel misses with a body shot
and Verbeek makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kissel really felt that one! Kissel takes a swing at Verbeek's ribcage but misses. Kissel backing away here, and Verbeek unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Kissel has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Martial Arts Dojo in the buildup to the fight. Verbeek lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kissel's sensitive parts. Kissel swings for the body but Verbeek moves out of range.

Verbeek looks like he wants to counter punch here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kissel lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kissel swings widly with a right hand
and Verbeek counters with a nice body kick. Verbeek fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kissel. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Verbeek chopping away at his opponent's legs.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kissel tests Verbeek's chin there with a solid looking shot. and Verbeek makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Kissel connects with a right hand. Verbeek shakes it off. Good leg kick by Verbeek there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kissel is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Verbeek swats away the attempt to clinch by Kissel. Kissel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A little jabbing left from Verbeek on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Kissel is looking to wear down Verbeek with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. The fighters circle momentarily. Verbeek darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

and Verbeek counters with a thumping low kick. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Verbeek.
Kissel ducks right into an uppercut from Verbeek. Kissel looks to land a right hand but Verbeek moved out of range. A nice side step and Verbeek releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Verbeek lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kissel takes a step back to recover. Verbeek throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Verbeek.

Verbeek uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kissel. Kissel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kissel is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kissel tries to clinch but fails miserably and Verbeek counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Verbeek thumps Kissel with a low kick. Verbeek showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kissel.
A chopping leg kick lands by Verbeek. Verbeek takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kissel tries to bum rush Verbeek with a series of wild strikes but Verbeek uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kissel misses with an uppercut. Verbeek throws a nice inside leg kick. Kissel throws a right hand that Verbeek ducks under and follows up with a left that Verbeek also avoids with ease. Kissel throws a hook to the side of Verbeek's head but Verbeek sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Kissel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pat Verbeek dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Sloppy strikes from Kissel. Those never looked like landing. Darren Kissel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kissel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Verbeek scores with a leg kick.
The crowd cheers as Kissel lands an impressive looking overhand right. Verbeek doesn't seem phased though. Kissel loads up on a big right hand but Verbeek slips the punch. Kissel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Verbeek manages to avoid it. Kissel misses with a looping right. Kissel fails to land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Verbeek slips under a jab from Kissel. Kissel misses with a shot to the body and Verbeek counters with a crisp one two that drops Kissel! Verbeek thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Kissel to his feet! Kissel is in big trouble!
Kissel is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Verbeek stuns Kissel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Oh Kissel is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Verbeek cracks Kissel with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Verbeek has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kissel to stand back up!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kissel wants to clinch. Verbeek has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Verbeek connects with a solid leg kick. Kissel seems to have got his legs back now. Kissel misses with a right hand and Verbeek makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Verbeek thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kissel if he has to take too many more of those.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kissel has managed to clinch.

Verbeek's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Kissel lands with a left to the head. Kissel doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Verbeek blocks a body shot from Kissel. Verbeek swings wildly with an uppercut but Kissel uses good head movement to avoid it. Verbeek is trying to break free. Kissel blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Kissel stalks Verbeek and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Verbeek's face. Verbeek staggers backwards, shaken. Kissel throws a leg kick and Verbeek makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Good exchange - Kissel coming out on top. Kissel misses with a few strikes there.

and Verbeek counters with an inside leg kick. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kissel tries to close the distance and clinch but Verbeek swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Verbeek avoids a punch combination nicely.

Kissel tries to clinch up but Verbeek circles away and keeps his distance. Verbeek cracks the inside of Kissel's front leg. Kissel throws a combination that misses and Verbeek counters with a left to the body. Kissel's legs have taken a beating and he's really slowing down as a result. Kissel throws a hook but Verbeek avoids it easily. Verbeek with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Verbeek throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Kissel tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Verbeek connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Verbeek lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Kissel takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Kissel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Verbeek. Verbeek scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
It looks like Darren Kissel has been cut. Verbeek scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kissel in his tracks. Kissel has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Verbeek finds it's way round the side to connect with Kissel's head. Kissel wants to clinch but Verbeek slips to the side and Verbeek counters with a leg kick.

Verbeek turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Verbeek lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kissel's sensitive parts. Verbeek uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kissel has time to react. A combination from Verbeek does no damage. Kissel will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Verbeek steps in with a hook that catches Kissel right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Verbeek follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Kissel looks absolutely devastated.
