PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mathek Krol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Longwe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mathek Krol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Longwe!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krol throws a one two combo.
Longwe keeps the fight on the outside.
Krol tries to close the distance and clinch up but Longwe swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Krol fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Longwe checks it well.
Longwe takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Longwe tries to close the distance and clinch but Krol swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Krol fails in his attempt to clinch.

Longwe decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Longwe is trying to work for a kimura but Krol is defending well.
Longwe is trying to control. Krol wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Krol is trying to stand.
Krol really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Longwe throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Krol to regain full guard.
Longwe prevents Krol from getting back to his feet.
Longwe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Longwe stops Krol from standing up.
Krol preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Krol wants to stand but Longwe is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Longwe clinches up against the ropes.
Krol fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Our sources have told us that Krol has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Krol is trying to push Longwe away but Longwe has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

Krol jumps guard but Longwe turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.

Longwe successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Longwe is on top in guard.

Krol is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Krol is breathing heavily.
Longwe trying to control the position from guard on top but Krol is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Longwe forces his way into half guard.
Longwe passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Longwe is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Krol to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Krol shrugs it off.
Krol is squirming around, avoiding Longwe's attempts to control the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Krol bucks Longwe off and manages to get back to his feet!
Longwe tries to clinch up but Krol circles away and keeps his distance.
Longwe looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Longwe has his takedown stuffed
and Krol counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Longwe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Krol tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Longwe defends well and Krol ends up having to push Longwe into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mathek Krol. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Longwe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Krol pinned against the ropes. Krol gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Krol fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Longwe avoids it really well and circles away.
Longwe lands with a kick to the temple. Krol shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Krol wants to get back to his feet.

Longwe escapes and gets back to his feet.
Longwe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Longwe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Longwe gets to his feet. Krol looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Longwe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Longwe shoots in and gets a takedown into Krol's guard.

Longwe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Krol sprawls well initially but Longwe persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Krol displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Longwe.
Longwe turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Krol tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Krol slaps away a takedown attempt from Longwe, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Longwe closes the distance looking to clinch
and Krol counters with a one-two to the body.
Longwe checks a low kick from Krol.
Longwe throws out a counter right but Krol avoids it with no problem.
Krol moves away from the strike by Longwe.
Krol appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Longwe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Krol moves away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Krol fails to land the takedown.
Longwe steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Krol.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Will Longwe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Krol wants to get back to his feet but Longwe drags him back down.

Longwe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krol keeps working.

Krol tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Longwe looking to control but Krol is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Krol bucks up and throws Longwe to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Longwe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Krol sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Longwe somewhat.

Krol is looking for a counter combo.
Will Longwe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Longwe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Krol swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Mathek Krol is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Krol thuds his right hand into Longwe's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Longwe wants to clinch up but Krol keeps it at a distance.
Mathek Krol has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Will Longwe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
