PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Doyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean Doyle told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kyle Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sean Doyle!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And Doyle tries to counter it with a takedown but Monroe pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Doyle looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Doyle tries to clinch but Monroe moves out of range.
Monroe avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Monroe displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Doyle.
Decent striking displayed by Monroe there.
Monroe stuffs the takedown.
Doyle gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Monroe counters with a head kick that drops Doyle to the mat! Doyle scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Doyle is rocked!
Kyle Monroe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Doyle.

Doyle dives in and scores a takedown into Monroe's guard.

Monroe is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Monroe continues to stall.

Doyle seems to have recovered his senses.
Monroe is adopting a defensive guard.
Doyle trying to control but Monroe is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Doyle takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Doyle dives in and grabs Monroe's left leg, looking for a takedown. Monroe pushes down on Doyle's head and hops out.
It looked like Monroe wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Monroe misses with a body kick.
Doyle feints the counter takedown.
Nice jab there from Monroe.
The fight stays on the outside here - Doyle looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Monroe feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Doyle sprawling to the canvas! Doyle rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Monroe finish him?!
Monroe tries a head kick but it misses.

Monroe instigates a clinch.

Doyle fails to pull guard.
Monroe putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Doyle in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Doyle is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Monroe tries to land a knee to the head but Doyle blocks with his arms.

Monroe lands a good knee to the midsection. Doyle won't want to take too many of those.

Monroe creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Doyle's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Doyle drops to his knees and Monroe pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
